June 2023 Training Overview: Mastery, Strength and Community

Welcome to June! As the temperatures rise, so does our commitment to help you improve your fitness and athletic performance. This month, we have a lot in store for you, focusing on perfecting a blend of bodyweight exercises and barbell movements. Expect a variety of workouts tailored to enhance your skills, strength, and endurance.

The Focus for June: Pull-ups, Handstands, and Rings

One of our primary goals this month is to help you progress on some of the most challenging and rewarding bodyweight exercises: pull-ups, handstands, and ring training.

Pull-ups are excellent for developing upper body strength, particularly targeting your back, biceps, and shoulders. Throughout June, we will work on enhancing your pull-up technique, working through different progressions and drills to increase your pulling strength. No matter your current level of proficiency, our individualized training plans will provide the right amount of challenge to help you improve.

Handstands are not just for gymnasts. They help improve shoulder stability, core strength, and balance. Whether working towards your first handstand or aiming to hold it longer, we will guide you with step-by-step progressions, proper alignment cues, and specific strength-building exercises.

Rings are versatile tools that demand strength, balance, and body control. Our workouts will integrate a variety of ring exercises like support holds, dips, and muscle-ups, building up your strength and coordination and pushing the boundaries of what you thought was possible.

Skill Work: Rope Climbs and Nordic Hamstring Curls

We’re thrilled to introduce additional skill work in June: Rope Climbs and Nordic Hamstring Curls. Rope Climbs are an excellent way to build functional upper body strength, enhance grip strength, and challenge cardiovascular fitness. Our trainers will guide you through proper rope climbing techniques, ensuring your safety while helping you master this full-body exercise.

The Nordic Hamstring Curl is an excellent exercise to isolate and build strength in your hamstrings. This exercise can significantly improve your overall lower body strength, improving your performance in various movements. With detailed guidance on the technique and progressions, we aim to help you integrate Nordic Hamstring Curls into your routine.

Perfecting Barbell Movements

Barbell training is a proven way to build strength and power. This June, we will spend significant time on perfecting the form and mechanics of various barbell movements, like squats, deadlifts, and overhead presses. By refining these fundamental movements, we can ensure your workouts are effective and safe, leading to greater strength gains over time.

Progress and Test: Upper Body Pull, Rings, and Neurological and Core

Our sessions will focus on skill development and provide a platform to measure your progress. Throughout the month, specific days will be dedicated to testing your upper body pull strength, ring skills, and core stability. This will serve as an opportunity to witness your improvements and set new training targets.

Community Class and Summer Series

Don’t forget to mark your calendar for Saturday, June 10th, at 10:30 am. We will host our monthly community class, a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow fitness enthusiasts and maybe even bring a friend to experience our training style.

Moreover, we’re thrilled to introduce our Summer Series this month.

First is “Burnout,” our outdoor high-intensity interval training (HIIT) class. These sessions will blend cardiovascular exercises with strength and endurance training. Burnout classes are perfect for those looking to increase their fitness levels quickly, lose weight, or simply enjoy a challenging outdoor workout.

The class will meet at 7:00 am Fridays under the tents. Space is limited to 10 people.

Then we have our “UAC Run Club,” which is about running and enhancing your endurance with a touch of strength training. These short, intense runs will challenge your cardiovascular fitness, and the incorporated strength training will ensure you’re a well-rounded athlete.

June promises to be an exciting month. Whether you’re looking to master pull-ups, perfect your barbell movements, or enjoy the community and outdoor activities, we’ve got something for you. Let’s make the most of this month together, and remember, the only bad workout is the one that didn’t happen!
