September Programming: Get Ready to Build Strength, Skill, and Power!

As we dive into September Programming at Urban Athletic Club, we’re shifting gears toward a month of focused weightlifting, strength, and skill work. This month’s programming is all about Weightlifting, Muscle Endurance, and Barbell Mastery, with a few Benchmark Workouts sprinkled in for fun. Expect weekly progressions that will challenge your strength and technical skills while keeping things fresh and engaging. Let’s break it down!

  • Electricity Discipline: Weightlifting
    This month, we’re focusing on Cleans and Snatches. We aim to improve your technique with drills designed to refine these complex movements, ensuring you feel solid and confident as you move through heavier lifts.
  • System: Plumbing
    The emphasis here is on controlled, muscle-focused exercises to help you develop endurance and muscular fatigue. Expect slow, deliberate movements designed to build deep muscle strength. Think Front Squats and Presses where control is critical.
  • Progression: Weightlifting
    We’re integrating Weightlifting progressions into every week so you can see and feel your improvement in strength. Each week, try to lift a little heavier and work on accessory movements to improve elbow and wrist mobility, which is vital for those explosive Olympic lifts. Stay consistent, and the gains will follow.
  • Virtuosity: Barbell
    Barbell mastery is the name of the game this month. From Back Squats to Push Presses, we’re honing the fundamentals of lifting. We aim for you to not only complete the movements but also do them with the highest level of technique and precision.
  • Fun: Benchmark Workouts
    To keep things exciting, we’re kicking off Week 1 with “Grace.” There’s nothing like a solid benchmark to test your progress! Keep an eye out for other favorites as we sprinkle them in throughout the month.

Month Assessments

  • Weightlifting
    This month’s focus on Cleans, Snatches, and Presses ties directly into our weightlifting assessments. Track your progress week over week as we help you level up.
  • Running
    Strength is a priority this month, but so is staying conditioned. Running assessments will help you maintain balance, testing both endurance and power.
  • Aerobic Power Intervals
    One of our longest and most challenging Assessments in API, a 17-minute combines wall balls, kettlebells/cleans, step-ups/box jumps, push presses, and burpees/bodybuilders.
