Quarter Two Starts Now: Welcome to Spring Training
April marks the start of a new quarter, and we’re coming in hot. Spring is training shifts gears. We shake off the winter grind, step outside, and continue our first-quarter momentum. Expect more running, fun and creative coordination work, and workouts that leave you breathless in the best way possible.
It’s all part of April, the first month of our Spring Training cycle, which runs through the end of June. We’ll change the intensity, dial in on bodyweight skill and strength, and set the stage for a strong, well-rounded summer.
What to Expect with April Programming
🧠 Electricity Discipline: Gymnastics
It’s time to own your body weight. This month, we’re focusing on the following:
- Pull-up progressions (strict, kipping, weighted)
- Ring work (support holds, dips, muscle-up transitions)
- Push-ups, handstand work, and isometric holds
Whether you’re chasing your first pull-up or building toward a strict muscle-up, we’ve built the path.
💨 System: Ventilation
You’re going to feel this one. This month’s workouts will challenge your lungs more than your muscles (remember the Level Method “house analogy” of ventilation and plumbing?). Think sustained pacing, big sets, and strategic movement. Running will appear more frequently as the weather turns—perfect for practicing real-world endurance.
Pro Tip: Expect running drills, pacing intervals, and outdoor options when the sun’s out. Your lungs will thank you.
🏋️♀️ Virtuosity: Barbell Focus
Refine. Don’t just lift — lift well. This month, our barbell training centers on:
- Power cleans
- Deadlifts
- Back squats
- Skill sessions are woven into class for cleaner movement patterns and more efficient lifts
Perfect the basics. That’s the difference maker.
🎯 Assessment Focus: Upper Body Pull + Rings
This month, we’re assessing Upper Body Pulling and Rings, which means plenty of time spent on the rig and the rings. Look out for built-in test days to track your Level Method progress.
🤹 Quality of the Month: Coordination
Coordination drills are in play. Think jump rope, ladder work, footwork progressions, and other ways to sharpen that mind-body connection.
🧪 Saturday Level Method Legion Workouts
Our Saturday “Fun” days are built from submissions across the Level Method community — workouts written and tested by top-tier coaches and athletes worldwide. Catch them on April 5 and April 19.
Looking Ahead: The Team Challenge Begins
On Saturday, June 28, we’re closing Q2 with a full-on Team Workout Event. Teams will earn points throughout the quarter by:
- Attending classes
- Logging scores
- Giving high-fives in the Chalk It app
- Showing up and showing out on June 28
