Mission Statement
Urban Athletic Club is dedicated to transforming lives and strengthening communities through fitness. By providing accessible programs and resources, we’ll empower 5,000 Shaw residents annually to improve their physical and mental health, foster connection, and build a healthier, stronger neighborhood.
Why It Matters
Across the U.S., life expectancy has declined, and rates of obesity and chronic health issues have risen. The pandemic has increased isolation, with work-from-home schedules and social media reducing opportunities for meaningful interaction.
We believe fitness is a powerful tool for improving physical health, creating connections, building confidence, and fostering a sense of community. Through Impact 5000, we aim to reverse these trends and make Shaw a model for health, wellness, and resilience. Together, we can create lasting change that benefits everyone
How We’ll Make It Happen
- Daily Group Training: Our strength and conditioning classes offer expert programming in a motivating group environment designed to help you build fitness and confidence at any level.
- Open Gym Access: Do you prefer to work at your own pace? Our open gym hours provide access to state-of-the-art equipment and space to crush your goals on your schedule.
- Personal Training: One-on-one coaching delivers personalized attention and expert guidance, ensuring every session is tailored to your needs.
- Specialized Programs: Six-week mini-courses tailored to specific goals, from weightlifting basics to event prep (HYROX, anyone?), give you the focused attention you need to level up.
- Community Events: Free InBody scans, nutrition seminars, and outdoor fitness pop-ups to engage and inspire the entire neighborhood.
- Digital Resources: Fitness tips, blogs, and videos to keep you on track and motivated wherever life takes you.
No matter how you prefer to train, we’re here to help you achieve your goals and make Shaw healthier, fitter, and stronger.
