At Urban Athletic Club, your fitness journey should start with clarity, not guesswork. Included with our Group Training Membership, the KickStart assessment process is a powerful onboarding experience designed to reveal your strengths and uncover areas for growth. It gives you insights into your current fitness level and sets a personal roadmap to help you reach your goals over the next 12 weeks and beyond.

Why Assessments Matter for Every Fitness Level

The KickStart process is ideal for everyone, whether you’re a seasoned lifter or just stepping back into a fitness routine. Often, experienced athletes think, “I’m already fit,” and quickly discover areas that may need attention—like flexibility or cardiovascular endurance. For instance, the lifter who powers through heavy squats may struggle with shoulder mobility or find themselves winded after a short row. The goal isn’t to highlight weaknesses but to provide a full picture, showing you where to refine your fitness journey.

Then there are those new to or revisiting the gym environment. Many clients anticipate starting at the bottom, saying, “I’ll probably be White on everything.” But they’re often surprised that they’ve retained more strength and resilience than expected or excel in specific areas such as bodyweight endurance or flexibility. This unexpected boost motivates and shows that fitness is often more attainable than anticipated.

Building Your Fitness Profile

During the KickStart assessment, our coaches take the time to get to know you—your background, work-life demands, interests, and what motivates you. Whether managing an old injury or aiming to improve mobility for a particular sport, your assessment allows our coaches to provide insights and craft a program that suits your lifestyle and goals. For instance, if you’re dealing with a knee injury from your college days or struggling with a limited front-rack range of motion, our coaches will factor these into your customized path, helping you achieve steady progress while avoiding risk.

Through the Level Method, we use a systematic approach to provide levels across various fitness categories, including tests of strength, flexibility, and endurance. For example, in one session, you might work through assessments for deadlift strength, upper body push capacity, and endurance. This information not only shows your starting point but creates a visual representation of your fitness across multiple domains so you always know where you stand and what’s next.

How the InBody Scan Informs Your Nutrition and Recovery

Nutrition is a critical component of reaching and maintaining fitness goals. As part of the KickStart, we include an InBody scan to provide insights into your body composition, helping us identify any gaps in your diet. With the scan’s results, our coaches can discuss practical ways to enhance your nutrition, like what to eat before and after workouts to maximize recovery and energy. It’s not just about counting macros—it’s about understanding what your body needs to sustain your workouts and support your goals.

Setting Up for Long-Term Success

The KickStart assessment goes beyond a one-time evaluation. The insights gathered allow us to set you up for a successful 12-week fitness journey, guiding you step-by-step as you progress. After the assessment, you’ll know which areas to focus on and have a tailored path to follow. We’ll also connect you with our Level Method app, where you can track progress over time. As you improve in specific areas, you’ll advance through levels, keeping each workout challenging yet achievable. This structured path encourages steady growth while preventing burnout or injury—a key focus in our approach.
